(Middle Clinoid Process)

A small bony projection on the body of the sphenoid bone that may form a bony bridge with the anterior clinoid process, creating a caroticoclinoid foramen. This anatomical variant is critical during neurosurgical approaches to the internal carotid artery, as an unexpected bony bridge can complicate clinoidectomy.
